In the Bible

And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, four rows of stones: a row of carnelian, topaz, and smaragd shall be the first row; and the second row a carbuncle, a sapphire, and an emerald; and the third row a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst; and the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper; they shall be enclosed in gold in their settings.
--EXODUS 28: 17-20

The twelve precious stones which decorated the Priestly Breastplate were engraved with the names of the Tribes of Israel. This citation of the tribes of Israel was to serve as a reminder of the forefathers' piety should the High Priest need to petition before God.

I thought that the way they dressed was to remind them that they were holy to God? And that their office as priest was holy to God?

My take on the subject is that the High Priest in his office represented the Messiah. The Messiah was perfect and sinless. He was glorious and majestic in his nature. No man can adequately represent the Messiah, so the clothes compensated for his glory and beauty. The work of the High Priest on the day of Atonement was an enactment of the Messiah making atonement for the souls of mankind. The Scriptures describe the clothes of the High Priest as garments for glory and for beauty.

Thank you for this video. It both confirms to me and encourages me that dressing to honor G-d is a blessing and worth the effort.
