In the Bible

It shall blossom and rejoice, even to rejoice and to sing
--ISAIAH 35:2

In Jewish texts, the imagery of flowers and the blossoming of plants is used to describe rebirth and the vitality of life. Isaiah is concerned with the coming of the messiah and the world being reborn from the ashes. No verse could describe the important metaphor of flowers in our world, than this one.
