Miniature art is a genre that focuses on the intricate and delicate workmanship that goes in to painting on a small scale. In Judaism the wedding is both the culmination of a couple’s love for one another and the beginning of their new lives together. In this painting Julia Agranovitz goes into the depth of the love between couples as they often remember their first years while gazing into the moonlight remembering the music and simcha of their wedding.

In the Bible

And I will stop from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem the sound of mirth and the sound of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, for the land shall be desolate

Books from the bible, ike Lamentations and many of the prophets, have likened the city of Jerusalem to a bride. Man and woman, bride and bridegroom symbolzie Man and God. These hallowed images come together in this verse and are exhibited in this painting, which encapsualtes the marraage of God and his people and the impotance of Jerusalem.
