Meet the Marvelous Mother of 35 Orphans

Malki Bukiet never intended to start the Alumim orphanage in Ukraine. But when she saw so many broken Jewish families and so many neglected children, she had to act.

Until the morning of February 24th, 2022, she never imagined the orphanage would leave Ukraine. Malki and her staff had cared for hundreds of children over the years and were planning to care for many more children in  the coming years.

The Russian invasion changed everything.

An hour after Russian rockets exploded near the orphanage, Malki, the orphans, staff, and their families were on a bus, fleeing for their lives. As Malki recalls, “We really felt like it was the exodus from Egypt because it was so unreal. I felt that God was bringing us to Israel…”

After miraculously escaping Ukraine and waiting in Romania, God brought the orphanage, by plane, to Israel. Their first home in Israel was a forested campus in the Judean Hills. This summer, they settled down in a permanent home in the coastal city of Ashkelon.

The orphans are finally in a routine – learning Hebrew and attending quality religious schools. They’re beginning to feel at home in the homeland they never knew.

As native Israelis, Malki and her husband are happy to be back. But they’re even happier for the orphans who now have the chance to build a real future for themselves in Israel.

Please donate now to give Malki’s orphans the clothing, food, medical care, school supplies, and extracurricular activities, they need to succeed.
