Please correct me if I am mistaken. It is my understanding that the Hebrew language does not have the sound or letter for our letter J. We say Jehovah where the Hebrew is YHWH being unpronounceable. Is this correct?

Shalom, that is correct. The Hebrew alphabet contains 22 letters. While many do match a lot of the English alphabet, there are several for which there is no corresponding Hebrew letter. Therefore some language adjustments must be made in such a case.
