Yerushalayim Shel Zahav (Jerusalem of Gold), composed by Naomi Shemer, became one of Israel’s most famous. Originally released 3 weeks before the Six Day War, it became a battle cry during the war and originally contained lyrics describing the 2000 years of Jewish longing. Soldiers sang this song at the kotel on June 7, 1967! After the war, Shemer changed the words in the second stanza to describe the victory over the Temple Mount. This version, sung by the late Ofra Hazan, contains the lyrics in English along with beautiful pictures of Jerusalem.
