May 15, the anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel, is called Nakba — tragedy — Day in the Arab world. This year’s anniversary was again marked by violent clashes. The IDF reported stone-throwing in Jerusalem, Hebron, Kalandia and Beitunia, to which it responded with crowd dispersal methods. Additional incidents were reported in Kadum and al-Ram. Palestinian sources, meanwhile, reported several injured as a result of IDF responses. This remains unconfirmed by the IDF. Other Palestinian sources also claim that right-wing Israeli activists attempted to enter the Temple Mount, scuffling there with Palestinians.
